Birmingham and District Allotments Council

 Advice

An Executive Committee is elected annually (in March) and is responsible for carrying out the work of the BDAC.

Meetings are held monthly at The Girl Guide Headquarters, Trefoil House, Brownsea Drive (off Blucher Street, Holloway Head).  All members are welcome at these meetings ( non-executive members should advise the Chairman or Secretary if attending)

Executive meetings are held on the first Monday in month, April 2nd, May 14th (previous Monday is Bank Holiday) Please let Clive know, by e-mail etc, when you want to come. (clivebirch@btinternet.com)

Projects on site -

Because of the possibility of projects getting out of control (it has happened) all projects need to be approved.  Most of these will be straightforward and agreed.  Forms are with Secretaries.

Insurance -

After much research the BDAC is not recommending Employers' Liability.  However, each association needs to decide for themselves.

Wider Afield - Use of allotment land:- in Birmingham vacant plots mean large areas within a site being available.  We have developed "wet areas", "wild bird sanctuaries" "community groups" and "grassed areas".  We welcome other ideas compatible with allotment gardening.  Has your association built family areas, play areas etc?  Let us know.

Liason Officers -

Allotment Officers should be discussing next year's plans with you NOW! If not, please let us know.  (October 2006)
